Seriously, the images you place on blog posts are so much more important than just being eye candy. Not only do you get the opportunity to show up in Google Image Search if you name them correctly (bringing you a bit more traffic) but you can monetize them in different ways as well. Here are just a couple:
Are you using Picasa? It’s a Google service that lets you upload and store your images in “flickr like” albums. Oh, and Google just loves indexing them since, after all, it’s owned by Google! A great way to let someone else pay the bandwidth bills - you can even make slideshows from them automatically, adding some motion and interest to your pages.
Shareapic - I’ve just started using them and so far it’s been a great experience. Again, you upload and organize your photos into albums but the nice thing here is that you get paid for pageviews, and eventually they will also allow you to place advertising on the page. (They were using adsense, but Google has yanked that functionality, unfortunately). In other words, the more times your thumbs and pics are seen, the more money you make. If you have a lot of low converting traffic, this one’s a keeper. Check out ShareaPic here. And again, you aren’t paying the bandwidth bills for all those hotlinkers ![]()
