Affiliate marketing can best be described as the process of creating relationships. In it’s simplest form, you create a web site and provide useful information to your visitors. You also recommend products and services which might interest these visitors, and receive a small commission payment if your visitors actually purchase the item you recommend by clicking on your link.
There are as many types of affiliate web sites as there are affiliates! Some ideas that you might try: You could create a blog about a specialized topic and update it daily (for example, breeding pedigree dogs, or refinishing old furniture), start a message board, or post on other people’s message boards! Whatever topic you choose, you must be able to offer some value to your visitors. Choose a topic you know quite a bit about, and plan on spending a couple hours a week updating and adding new material to it.
Once you have created the web site, you will then add affiliate links - advertisements which are related to your content and might have real value or interest to your visitors. Just posting a bunch of random links doesn’t work. Your BEST chance for success is to find a way to add value to what you recommend. for example, you might try doing a price comparison for a certain product that is offered my a variety of companies. This helps your visitor choose the best deal, and means they are more likely to return to your site to make a purchase.
